The DPF3 (d4-family zinc finger protein 3) antibody is a tool used to study the DPF3 protein, a member of the d4-family of chromatin-associated proteins. DPF3. also known as BAF45c or SMARCG2. functions as a subunit of the Brg1/Brahma-associated factors (BAF) chromatin remodeling complex, which regulates gene expression by altering chromatin structure. It contains two plant homeodomain (PHD) zinc fingers that mediate interactions with histones, particularly acetylated H3 and H4. linking chromatin modification to transcriptional regulation.

DPF3 plays critical roles in cardiac and skeletal muscle development, with studies implicating it in heart morphogenesis and myogenesis. Aberrant DPF3 expression or mutations are associated with developmental disorders and cancers, including medulloblastoma and ovarian cancer. The DPF3 antibody is widely used in research to investigate its involvement in chromatin dynamics, tissue-specific differentiation pathways, and disease mechanisms. It enables detection of DPF3 in techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP). Recent studies also explore its potential as a therapeutic target, emphasizing its dual role as an oncogene or tumor suppressor depending on cellular context. The antibody's specificity and reliability make it essential for dissecting DPF3's functional interplay within the BAF complex and its broader epigenetic regulatory network.
