The CCDC12 (Coiled-Coil Domain Containing Protein 12) antibody is a tool used to study the function and expression of the CCDC12 protein, a member of the coiled-coil domain-containing protein family. These proteins are characterized by their α-helical coiled-coil domains, which mediate protein-protein interactions and structural organization within cells. CCDC12 is evolutionarily conserved and expressed in various tissues, though its precise biological roles remain under investigation. Preliminary studies suggest its involvement in cellular processes such as mitosis, ciliogenesis, and intracellular transport, potentially linked to microtubule-associated functions.

Research using CCDC12 antibodies has helped localize the protein to subcellular structures like the centrosome and cilia, implicating it in ciliary assembly and maintenance. Dysregulation of ciliary proteins is associated with ciliopathies, developmental disorders, and cancers, positioning CCDC12 as a protein of interest in these contexts. Antibodies against CCDC12 enable detection via techniques like Western blot, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry, aiding in expression profiling across normal and diseased tissues.
