In the circulation pFXIII is bound to the γ-chain of Fibrinogen. Intracellular Factor XIII, including platelet Factor XIII, comprises only the FXIII-A subunits and exists as a homodimer of the A subunit . FXIII-A is produced in cells of bone marrow origin whereas FXIII-B is produced in the liver by the hepatocytes
