The ACO2 antibody is a tool used to detect aconitase 2. a mitochondrial enzyme critical in the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle. Aconitase 2 (ACO2) catalyzes the isomerization of citrate to isocitrate, a key step in cellular energy production. Beyond its metabolic role, ACO2 also participates in iron homeostasis, functioning as an iron-sulfur cluster protein and potentially acting as a sensor for oxidative stress. Dysregulation of ACO2 has been linked to metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Alzheimer's, Parkinson's), and certain cancers. The ACO2 antibody enables researchers to study protein expression, localization, and function in tissues or cultured cells through techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.
