The MPP1 (Membrane Palmitoylated Protein 1) antibody is a tool used to study the MPP1 protein, a member of the membrane-associated guanylate kinase (MAGUK) family. MPP1. also known as PALS2 or DXS552. plays a critical role in organizing cell membrane structures, particularly in erythrocytes. It stabilizes the plasma membrane by interacting with cytoskeletal components and other proteins, such as protein 4.1 and glycophorin C, contributing to red blood cell elasticity and integrity. Mutations in the MPP1 gene are linked to X-linked hereditary spherocytosis, a rare hematological disorder characterized by fragile, spherical erythrocytes.

The MPP1 antibody is widely employed in research to investigate cell polarity, membrane protein complexes, and erythrocyte disorders.
