Ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase L3 (UCHL3) is a deubiquitinating enzyme belonging to the ubiquitin-specific protease family, which plays a critical role in regulating protein turnover and cellular homeostasis via the ubiquitin-proteasome system. It catalyzes the cleavage of ubiquitin precursors and the removal of ubiquitin chains from target proteins, influencing processes such as DNA repair, cell cycle progression, and neuronal development. UCHL3 contains a conserved catalytic domain with a cysteine residue critical for its enzymatic activity.
