The UBE2B antibody targets the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 B (UBE2B), a key component of the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) responsible for protein degradation. UBE2B, also known as RAD6B, functions as an E2 enzyme that transfers ubiquitin to substrate proteins in conjunction with E3 ligases, marking them for proteasomal destruction. This post-translational modification regulates critical cellular processes, including DNA damage repair, cell cycle progression, and transcriptional regulation. UBE2B interacts with E3 ligases like RAD18 and BRE1 to mediate error-prone DNA repair pathways and histone H2B ubiquitination, respectively.

Antibodies against UBE2B are widely used in research to study its expression, localization, and molecular interactions. They enable techniques such as Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and co-immunoprecipitation to explore UBE2B’s role in maintaining genomic stability and epigenetic regulation.
