The TMPRSS13 antibody targets TMPRSS13 (Transmembrane Serine Protease 13), a member of the type II transmembrane serine protease (TTSP) family. TMPRSS13. also known as MSPL (mosaic serine protease large-form), is characterized by a conserved serine protease domain, a transmembrane region, and a short cytoplasmic tail. It is expressed in various tissues, including the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal system, and reproductive organs. TMPRSS13 plays roles in proteolytic activation of proteins involved in cellular signaling, tissue remodeling, and host-pathogen interactions. Notably, it has been implicated in viral entry mechanisms, particularly for influenza A viruses and coronaviruses, by cleaving viral glycoproteins to facilitate membrane fusion.

Research on TMPRSS13 antibodies focuses on elucidating its physiological and pathological functions. These antibodies are essential tools for detecting protein expression, localization, and activity in cellular and tissue contexts. Studies highlight its potential involvement in cancer progression, as aberrant TMPRSS13 expression has been observed in certain tumors. Additionally, its role in epithelial homeostasis and barrier function underscores relevance to inflammatory and infectious diseases. Commercially available TMPRSS13 antibodies are typically validated for applications like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry. However, challenges remain in ensuring antibody specificity due to structural similarities among TTSPs. Ongoing work aims to refine antibody performance and explore therapeutic strategies targeting TMPRSS13 in viral infections or cancer.
