The TFDP2 antibody is a tool used to detect Transcription Factor Dp-2 (TFDP2), a member of the DP family of transcription regulators. TFDP2 forms heterodimers with E2F proteins, enabling sequence-specific DNA binding and transcriptional regulation of genes involved in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and differentiation. Unlike its homolog TFDP1. TFDP2 exhibits distinct DNA-binding properties and tissue-specific expression patterns, with higher prevalence in certain tissues like the placenta and testis. It plays roles in embryonic development and cellular homeostasis, though its functional overlap or divergence with TFDP1 remains under investigation.

Research using TFDP2 antibodies has highlighted its dual roles in cancer biology. While some studies suggest TFDP2 acts as an oncogene by promoting cell proliferation and survival in cancers like hepatocellular carcinoma, others propose tumor-suppressive functions in contexts such as prostate cancer. This complexity may stem from tissue-specific interactions with E2Fs or other co-regulators. Additionally, TFDP2 has been implicated in neurodegenerative diseases and developmental disorders, reflecting its broad regulatory influence.

TFDP2 antibodies are critical for techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence, enabling the study of its expression, localization, and interactions. Their applications extend to exploring TFDP2's role in drug resistance, cellular senescence, and epigenetic modulation. Despite progress, challenges persist in distinguishing TFDP2-specific functions from those of TFDP1 due to structural similarities, necessitating rigorous antibody validation in experimental models.
