The TPT1 (Tumor Protein Translationally-Controlled 1) antibody is a tool used to study the TPT1 protein, a highly conserved, multifunctional molecule encoded by the *TPT1* gene. Originally identified as a translationally controlled tumor protein, TPT1 (also called TCTP) is ubiquitously expressed across eukaryotes and plays roles in cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, calcium homeostasis, and stress response. Structurally, it is a small cytoplasmic protein (~19-21 kDa) with a flexible conformation, enabling interactions with diverse binding partners like microtubules, Bcl-2 family proteins, and mTOR pathway components.

TPT1 is implicated in cancer progression, as its overexpression correlates with tumor growth, metastasis, and therapy resistance. It regulates pathways such as mTOR signaling (promoting cell proliferation) and p53 stabilization (modulating apoptosis). Additionally, TPT1 participates in immune responses and developmental processes. Antibodies targeting TPT1 are widely used in research to detect its expression levels via Western blot, immunohistochemistry, or immunofluorescence, aiding studies on cancer biology, neurodegeneration, and autophagy. Some commercial TPT1 antibodies are raised in rabbits or mice using recombinant protein antigens or synthetic peptides. Validation includes specificity checks using knockout cell lines or siRNA-mediated knockdown. Beyond research, TPT1 antibodies have potential diagnostic applications, as elevated TPT1 levels in serum or tissues may serve as biomarkers for certain cancers or inflammatory diseases.
