The STX16 antibody targets Syntaxin-16 (STX16), a member of the Syntaxin family of soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptors (SNAREs). SNARE proteins mediate intracellular membrane fusion events critical for vesicular trafficking, organelle biogenesis, and cargo transport. STX16 localizes primarily to the Golgi apparatus and endosomal compartments, where it regulates retrograde transport, lysosomal function, and autophagy. It interacts with other SNAREs (e.g., VAMP7. SNAP29) and adaptors to form complexes essential for maintaining Golgi structure and secretory pathways. Dysregulation of STX16 has been implicated in diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and lysosomal storage diseases, highlighting its role in cellular homeostasis.

STX16 antibodies are widely used in research to study protein localization, trafficking mechanisms, and disease-associated alterations. Common applications include Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation, enabling visualization of STX16 expression patterns in cell lines and tissues. Commercial antibodies are typically raised in rabbits or mice, with validation across multiple experimental platforms. Recent studies also explore STX16's involvement in metabolic signaling and immune responses, expanding its relevance in biomedical research.
