STX12 (Syntaxin-12) is a member of the syntaxin family of proteins, which are critical components of the SNARE (soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor) complex involved in intracellular membrane fusion and trafficking. Primarily localized to the Golgi apparatus and endosomes, STX12 facilitates vesicle docking and fusion, playing a key role in protein sorting, organelle biogenesis, and retrograde transport. It interacts with other SNARE proteins, such as VAMP4 and SNAP-23. to mediate membrane dynamics essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis.
