The ST18 antibody targets the ST18 (suppression of tumorigenicity 18) protein, a transcription factor implicated in cancer progression and immune regulation. Initially identified for its potential tumor-suppressive role, ST18 has dualistic functions depending on cellular context. Structurally, it contains zinc finger domains, enabling DNA binding and transcriptional modulation. Studies link ST18 to apoptosis, cell proliferation, and inflammation, with overexpression observed in certain cancers like breast and hepatocellular carcinoma, where it may promote tumor aggressiveness. Conversely, other research suggests ST18 acts as a tumor suppressor in pancreatic and gastric cancers by inhibiting oncogenic pathways.

The ST18 antibody is widely used in research to detect protein expression via techniques like Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. Its role in immune regulation, particularly in modulating NF-κB signaling and cytokine production, has expanded its relevance to autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. However, conflicting findings about its pro- or anti-tumor effects highlight the complexity of ST18's biological functions.
