The SNX20 antibody is a research tool designed to target Sorting Nexin 20 (SNX20), a member of the sorting nexin protein family involved in membrane trafficking, endosomal sorting, and cellular signaling. SNX20 contains a characteristic Phox homology (PX) domain that binds phosphoinositides, enabling its role in recruiting to specific membrane compartments. It is primarily expressed in immune cells, such as macrophages and dendritic cells, where it regulates endosomal trafficking of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and modulates innate immune responses. Studies link SNX20 to inflammatory pathways, particularly in TLR4 signaling, where it facilitates the transport of TLR4 from endosomes to lysosomes for degradation, thereby limiting excessive inflammation. Dysregulation of SNX20 has been implicated in inflammatory diseases like colitis.
