It regulates signaling pathways, including TGF-β and EGFR, by modulating nucleotide metabolism and interacting with proteins like NME1. PRUNE1 dysfunction is linked to neurodevelopmental disorders, including microcephaly, seizures, and brain atrophy, as well as cancer progression and metastasis.

They enable detection via techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.
