The PDP1 (Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Phosphatase 1) antibody is a tool used to study the regulatory enzyme PDP1. which plays a critical role in glucose metabolism. PDP1 is a mitochondrial phosphatase that activates the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC) by dephosphorylating its E1 subunit, enabling PDC to convert pyruvate to acetyl-CoA. This step links glycolysis to the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, making PDP1 essential for cellular energy production. Dysregulation of PDP1 is implicated in metabolic disorders, including diabetes, obesity, and mitochondrial diseases.

Antibodies targeting PDP1 are utilized in research to detect its expression levels, localization, and interactions in tissues or cell lines. They help elucidate PDP1's role in metabolic pathways, insulin signaling, and its potential as a therapeutic target.
