**Background of PEA15 Antibody**

The PEA15 (Phosphoprotein Enriched in Astrocytes 15) antibody is a tool used to detect PEA15. a 15-16 kDa protein encoded by the *PEA15* gene. Originally identified in astrocytes, PEA15 is a death effector domain (DED)-containing protein that regulates apoptosis, proliferation, and glucose metabolism. It interacts with key signaling molecules, such as FADD (Fas-associated death domain) and ERK1/2 (Extracellular Signal-Regulated Kinase), modulating cell survival and stress responses. PEA15's phosphorylation status (e.g., at Serine 116 and Serine 104) influences its function, shifting between pro-apoptotic and anti-apoptotic roles.

PEA15 is implicated in diseases like cancer, diabetes, and neurodegenerative disorders. In cancer, its overexpression often correlates with tumor progression and therapy resistance by blocking apoptosis. In diabetes, PEA15 affects insulin sensitivity by interfering with GLUT4 trafficking.
