TRPM8 (Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 8) is a calcium-permeable ion channel belonging to the TRP superfamily, primarily known for its role in detecting cold temperatures and mediating cooling sensations. It is activated by moderate cooling (below 26°C), menthol, and icilin. Expressed in sensory neurons, prostate, and other tissues, TRPM8 regulates thermosensation, pain signaling, and cellular responses to cold. Dysregulation of TRPM8 has been linked to pathological conditions, including neuropathic pain, chronic cough, and cancer progression, making it a therapeutic target for pain management and oncology research.

TRPM8 antibodies are essential tools for studying the channel’s expression, localization, and function. They enable detection of TRPM8 in various biological samples via techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF). High-quality antibodies target specific epitopes, often within the channel’s N-terminal domain or pore region, and undergo validation using knockout controls to ensure specificity.
