The MFAP3L (Microfibril-Associated Protein 3-Like) antibody is a tool used to study the MFAP3L protein, a member of the microfibril-associated glycoprotein (MAGP) family. MFAP3L is encoded by the *MFAP3L* gene located on human chromosome 4q32.1 and shares structural homology with other microfibril-associated proteins involved in extracellular matrix (ECM) organization. The protein is implicated in regulating microfibril assembly, which contributes to the structural integrity of elastic fibers and connective tissues. While its exact biological functions remain under investigation, MFAP3L is thought to interact with fibrillin-rich microfibrils, influencing cell adhesion, tissue development, and ECM remodeling processes.

Research using MFAP3L antibodies has highlighted its potential roles in pathological conditions. Studies suggest associations with cardiovascular diseases, fibrotic disorders, and cancer progression, where ECM dysregulation is a hallmark.
