**Background of INSIG2 Antibody**

The insulin-induced gene 2 (INSIG2) encodes a protein that plays a critical role in regulating cholesterol and lipid metabolism. INSIG2. along with INSIG1. is an endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-resident membrane protein involved in feedback control of sterol regulatory element-binding protein (SREBP) pathways. By interacting with SREBP cleavage-activating protein (SCAP), INSIG2 retains the SCAP-SREBP complex in the ER under high sterol conditions, blocking proteolytic activation of SREBPs and suppressing genes responsible for cholesterol and fatty acid synthesis.

INSIG2 antibodies are essential tools for studying its expression, localization, and function in metabolic regulation. These antibodies enable detection of INSIG2 in various experimental setups, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.
