The CBX6 antibody is a tool used to study the Chromobox homolog 6 (CBX6) protein, a member of the Polycomb Repressive Complex 1 (PRC1) family. PRC1 is crucial for maintaining gene silencing through chromatin modification, including monoubiquitination of histone H2A. CBX6. like other Chromobox proteins (CBX2. 4. 6. 7. 8), contributes to PRC1’s role in epigenetic regulation, cell differentiation, and development by binding to trimethylated histone H3 lysine 27 (H3K27me3), a mark deposited by Polycomb Repressive Complex 2 (PRC2). This interaction facilitates chromatin compaction and transcriptional repression.

CBX6 antibodies are widely utilized in research to investigate PRC1-mediated gene regulation in stem cell pluripotency, tissue development, and cancer. Studies suggest CBX6 has tissue-specific roles; for example, it is implicated in maintaining neuronal progenitor cell identity and may function as an oncogene or tumor suppressor in certain cancers. Antibodies targeting CBX6 (often rabbit or mouse monoclonal) are validated for applications like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP).
