COX10 (cytochrome c oxidase assembly factor 10) is a nuclear-encoded enzyme essential for the biosynthesis of cytochrome c oxidase (COX), the terminal enzyme in the mitochondrial electron transport chain (ETC). Specifically, COX10 catalyzes the conversion of protoheme to heme O, a critical step in the synthesis of heme A, a prosthetic group required for COX enzymatic activity. Dysregulation of COX10 has been linked to mitochondrial disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer, making it a biomarker of interest in metabolic and pathological studies.

Antibodies targeting COX10 enable researchers to detect and quantify its expression in tissues or cultured cells, often via techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, or immunofluorescence.
