The DBX1 antibody targets the homeodomain transcription factor DBX1 (Developing Brain Homeobox 1), which plays a critical role in neural development, particularly in the specification of spinal cord interneurons. DBX1 is expressed in progenitor domains of the ventral neural tube during embryogenesis, where it regulates the differentiation of distinct neuronal subtypes, including V0 and V1 interneurons involved in locomotor circuits. Its expression is tightly controlled by sonic hedgehog (SHH) signaling and transcription factors like Pax6 and Nkx6.1. ensuring precise spatial and temporal patterning of the neural tube.

Antibodies against DBX1 are widely used in developmental neurobiology to study neuronal fate determination, axon guidance, and circuit assembly. These tools enable visualization of DBX1 protein distribution via immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, or immunofluorescence, aiding in mapping its expression dynamics across species (e.g., mice, zebrafish). DBX1 antibodies are often validated for specificity using knockout models or peptide-blocking assays to confirm binding to conserved epitopes, typically within the homeodomain or N-terminal regions. Researchers also utilize these antibodies to explore DBX1's role in disease models, such as spinal cord injuries or neurodegenerative disorders linked to interneuron dysfunction.
