NUP88 (Nucleoporin 88) is a component of the nuclear pore complex (NPC), a critical structure regulating nucleocytoplasmic transport of RNA and proteins. It interacts with other nucleoporins, such as NUP214. to maintain NPC architecture and mediate selective molecular trafficking. NUP88 is overexpressed in various cancers, including leukemia, breast, and ovarian carcinomas, and its dysregulation is linked to oncogenic processes. Studies suggest that elevated NUP88 levels may stabilize oncoproteins by disrupting nuclear export or promote chromosomal translocations (e.g., NUP88-NUP214 fusion in leukemia), contributing to tumorigenesis.

NUP88 antibodies are essential tools for studying its expression, localization, and role in disease. In research, they are used in techniques like immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and Western blotting to assess NUP88 levels in tissues or cell lines, aiding in cancer biomarker discovery.
