The DPPA4 (Developmental Pluripotency-Associated 4) antibody is a research tool used to detect and study the DPPA4 protein, a member of the pluripotency-associated gene family critical in early embryonic development and stem cell biology. DPPA4 is predominantly expressed in pluripotent cells, including embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), where it contributes to maintaining self-renewal and undifferentiated states by regulating epigenetic modifications and gene expression. It interacts with other pluripotency factors, such as OCT4. SOX2. and NANOG, and is involved in chromatin remodeling through its SPOC (Spen paralog and ortholog C-terminal) domain.

DPPA4 expression sharply declines during cellular differentiation, making it a valuable marker for pluripotency. Studies also link DPPA4 to germ cell development and certain cancers, where its reactivation may promote tumorigenesis. The DPPA4 antibody is widely used in techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry to investigate stem cell dynamics, reprogramming mechanisms, and disease models. However, its specificity and role in somatic cells remain under exploration, necessitating careful validation in experimental settings. Research on DPPA4 continues to advance regenerative medicine and cancer biology insights.
