SNX30 (Sorting Nexin 30) is a member of the sorting nexin family, a group of proteins involved in membrane trafficking, endosomal sorting, and cellular signaling. These proteins typically contain a Phox homology (PX) domain, which binds phosphoinositides to facilitate membrane association. SNX30 is distinguished by its unique structural features, including a C-terminal region that may mediate protein-protein interactions or regulate subcellular localization. It is implicated in retrograde transport from endosomes to the Golgi apparatus and interacts with components of the retromer complex, which is critical for recycling receptors and cargos. Studies suggest SNX30 may also influence autophagy and lysosomal function, though its precise mechanistic roles remain under investigation.
