The ZFYVE27 antibody is a research tool designed to detect and study the ZFYVE27 protein, also known as Protrudin, encoded by the ZFYVE27 gene. This protein contains a FYVE domain, a zinc finger motif that binds phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate (PI3P), and plays a role in membrane trafficking, neurite outgrowth, and intracellular vesicle transport. ZFYVE27 is particularly implicated in regulating endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-endosome contact sites, facilitating cargo transfer and maintaining cellular homeostasis. Dysfunction of ZFYVE27 has been linked to hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP), a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive lower limb spasticity, due to its role in axon elongation and neuronal maintenance.
