The GTF2F1 antibody targets the General Transcription Factor IIF subunit 1 (GTF2F1), a critical component of the RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. GTF2F1. also known as TFIIFα/RAP74. forms a heterodimer with GTF2F2 (TFIIFβ/RAP30) to create the transcription factor IIF (TFIIF) complex. This complex plays a central role in transcription initiation by stabilizing RNA polymerase II binding to promoter regions, facilitating promoter clearance, and regulating transcription elongation. GTF2F1 contains domains involved in interactions with RNA polymerase II and other transcription factors, such as TFIIB and TFIIH.

Antibodies against GTF2F1 are widely used in molecular biology research to study transcriptional regulation mechanisms. They enable detection and quantification of GTF2F1 in techniques like Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence. Additionally, these antibodies help investigate TFIIF's role in chromatin remodeling, DNA repair, and cell cycle progression. Dysregulation of GTF2F1 has been implicated in certain cancers and developmental disorders, making its antibody a tool for exploring disease-associated transcriptional abnormalities.
