SQOR (sulfide quinone oxidoreductase) is a mitochondrial enzyme central to hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) metabolism, catalyzing its oxidation to prevent cytotoxic accumulation while linking H₂S signaling to energy production. H₂S, a gasotransmitter, regulates physiological processes like inflammation, redox balance, and mitochondrial function. Dysregulated SQOR activity is implicated in diseases such as neurodegenerative disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer, making it a key research target. SQOR antibodies are critical tools for detecting and quantifying SQOR protein expression in tissues or cells, enabling studies on its role in H₂S homeostasis and disease mechanisms. These antibodies are widely used in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence to map SQOR distribution, assess expression changes under pathological conditions, and validate experimental models (e.g., knockout mice). Commercially available SQOR antibodies are typically raised against specific epitopes of human or murine SQOR, with validation in relevant species. Recent studies highlight SQOR’s protective roles against oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction, driving demand for high-specificity antibodies to advance therapeutic research.
