The NSMCE2 antibody targets the NSMCE2 protein (also known as NSE2 or MMS21), a critical subunit of the SMC5-SMC6 complex, a conserved multi-protein complex essential for maintaining genomic stability. This complex plays a central role in DNA repair, chromosome segregation, and replication fork restart, particularly during homologous recombination repair and telomere maintenance. NSMCE2. a SUMO ligase, facilitates post-translational modification of target proteins via SUMOylation, regulating their activity in DNA damage response pathways.

Antibodies against NSMCE2 are widely used in research to study its expression, localization, and interactions within the SMC5-SMC6 complex. They enable detection through techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation, aiding in understanding its molecular mechanisms. Dysregulation or mutations in NSMCE2 are linked to genomic instability disorders, including Bloom syndrome-like phenotypes, and have been implicated in cancer progression, such as melanoma and lung adenocarcinoma.

Research using NSMCE2 antibodies has highlighted its role in suppressing replication stress and preventing aberrant recombination, offering insights into tumorigenesis and potential therapeutic targets.
