The STAG2 antibody targets the STAG2 protein, a core subunit of the cohesin complex, which regulates chromosome organization, sister chromatid cohesion, and transcriptional regulation. STAG2 partners with other cohesin components (SMC1. SMC3. RAD21) to form a ring-like structure that encircles DNA, ensuring genomic stability during cell division. Mutations in the *STAG2* gene are recurrently observed in cancers, including myeloid malignancies (e.g., acute myeloid leukemia), urothelial carcinoma, and glioblastoma, often linked to aneuploidy and poor prognosis. STAG2 loss is associated with impaired DNA repair, altered chromatin looping, and dysregulated gene expression.

STAG2 antibodies are widely used in research to study cohesin function, detect STAG2 expression levels in cancer models, and explore its role in tumorigenesis. These tools enable techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry to assess protein localization, expression loss in mutant cells, or cohesin complex dynamics. Some antibodies specifically recognize distinct STAG2 isoforms or post-translational modifications. Validation is critical, as STAG2 shares homology with STAG1/STAG3. and nonspecific binding may occur. Recent studies also investigate STAG2's potential as a therapeutic target or biomarker for precision oncology, driving demand for reliable antibodies in translational research.
