**Background of PMP2 Antibody**

The PMP2 (Peripheral Myelin Protein 2), also known as Fatty Acid-Binding Protein 8 (FABP8), is a small cytoplasmic protein predominantly expressed in Schwann cells of the peripheral nervous system. It plays a critical role in maintaining myelin structure and function by facilitating the transport and metabolism of fatty acids, essential for myelin membrane synthesis and repair.
