The XKR3 antibody is designed to target the XK-related protein 3 (XKR3), a member of the XK family of transmembrane proteins implicated in phospholipid scrambling and apoptotic cell clearance. XKR3 shares structural homology with other XKR family members, such as XKR8 and XKR9. which are known to facilitate phosphatidylserine (PS) exposure on the cell surface during apoptosis—a critical signal for phagocytic cells to engulf dying cells.
