VPS4B plays a critical role in cellular membrane remodeling processes, such as cytokinesis, viral budding, and multivesicular body formation. It functions as an ATPase that disassembles and recycles ESCRT-III polymers, enabling membrane scission. Dysregulation of VPS4B is linked to cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and defective cytokinesis.

The antibody is typically developed in host species like rabbits or mice using immunogenic peptides or recombinant VPS4B proteins. It is validated for applications such as Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation to study VPS4B expression, localization, and interactions. Specificity is confirmed via knockdown/knockout controls. Researchers use it to explore VPS4B’s role in ESCRT-mediated processes, its interplay with homolog VPS4A (which shares partial functional redundancy), and disease mechanisms.
