VPS4A (Vacuolar Protein Sorting 4 Homolog A) is a member of the AAA+ ATPase protein family, playing a critical role in the endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) pathway. This pathway is essential for membrane remodeling processes, including multivesicular body (MVB) formation, cytokinesis, viral budding, and autophagy. VPS4A facilitates the disassembly and recycling of ESCRT-III polymers by hydrolyzing ATP, enabling membrane fission and cargo sorting. Dysregulation of VPS4A is linked to various diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and viral infections, due to its involvement in cellular homeostasis and stress responses.

Antibodies targeting VPS4A are vital tools for studying its expression, localization, and function in these processes. Researchers use VPS4A antibodies in techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation to investigate protein levels in different tissues or disease models. For example, reduced VPS4A expression has been observed in certain cancers, suggesting a tumor-suppressive role, while mutations are implicated in neurodevelopmental conditions.
