UBA1 antibody targets the UBA1 protein, a key enzyme in the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS). UBA1. encoded by the *UBA1* gene, is the primary E1 ubiquitin-activating enzyme responsible for initiating ubiquitination, a post-translational modification critical for protein degradation, DNA repair, and cellular signaling. It catalyzes the ATP-dependent activation of ubiquitin, transferring it to E2 conjugating enzymes, which subsequently collaborate with E3 ligases to tag substrate proteins for proteasomal degradation or functional modulation.

UBA1 antibodies are widely used in research to study ubiquitination dynamics, protein turnover, and UPS-related pathologies. They are essential tools in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) to detect UBA1 expression levels, localization, and activity in cells or tissues. Dysregulation of UBA1 is linked to diseases, including myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), autoimmune disorders, and cancers. For example, somatic *UBA1* mutations drive VEXAS syndrome, a severe inflammatory condition. Additionally, UBA1 inhibition or mutation disrupts cellular homeostasis, contributing to neurodegeneration and tumor progression.

These antibodies also aid in exploring therapeutic strategies targeting the UPS, such as proteasome inhibitors in cancer therapy. By enabling precise detection of UBA1 variants or activity changes, they provide insights into disease mechanisms and potential biomarkers.
