The SAMD4A (Sterile Alpha Motif Domain-containing protein 4A) antibody is a research tool used to detect and study the SAMD4A protein, a member of the SAMD family implicated in RNA metabolism and post-transcriptional regulation. SAMD4A contains a sterile alpha motif (SAM) domain, which facilitates protein-protein interactions, and is involved in cellular processes such as mRNA stability, translation, and stress granule formation. It plays roles in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis, with emerging links to cancers, neurological disorders, and viral infections.

SAMD4A antibodies are widely employed in techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation to investigate SAMD4A expression, localization, and interactions. Studies using these antibodies have revealed SAMD4A's function as an RNA-binding protein that regulates specific mRNA targets, including those controlling cell cycle progression and stress responses. Dysregulation of SAMD4A has been observed in tumors, where it may act as a tumor suppressor or promoter depending on context, and in neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, where it influences pathogenic protein aggregation.

Validated SAMD4A antibodies are critical for elucidating its molecular mechanisms and therapeutic potential. Knockout cell lines and siRNA experiments often complement antibody-based approaches to confirm target specificity. Ongoing research aims to clarify SAMD4A's role in disease pathways and its utility as a diagnostic or therapeutic biomarker.
