The LPCAT2 (lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase 2) antibody is a tool used to detect and study the LPCAT2 enzyme, a key player in phospholipid remodeling. LPCAT2 belongs to the acyltransferase family and catalyzes the conversion of lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) to phosphatidylcholine (PC) by transferring acyl groups, a critical step in maintaining membrane composition and lipid signaling. This enzyme is also involved in synthesizing platelet-activating factor (PAF), a potent lipid mediator linked to inflammation, immune responses, and vascular permeability. LPCAT2 is highly expressed in immune cells, such as macrophages and neutrophils, and its activity has been implicated in inflammatory diseases, atherosclerosis, and cancer progression.

Antibodies targeting LPCAT2 enable researchers to investigate its expression, localization, and regulatory mechanisms in various tissues and disease models. These antibodies are validated for applications like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. Specificity is crucial, as LPCAT2 shares structural homology with other acyltransferases (e.g., LPCAT1).
