The EIF2B3 antibody targets the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2B subunit gamma (EIF2B3), a critical component of the eIF2B complex. This heteropentameric complex regulates protein synthesis by catalyzing the exchange of GDP for GTP on eIF2. a necessary step for initiating mRNA translation under stress conditions. EIF2B3. encoded by the *EIF2B3* gene, is one of five subunits (α-ε) that collectively modulate cellular adaptation to stressors like nutrient deprivation, viral infection, or oxidative damage. Mutations in *EIF2B3* are linked to vanishing white matter (VWM) disease, a fatal leukoencephalopathy characterized by progressive neurodegeneration and stress-induced neurological deterioration.

EIF2B3 antibodies are widely used in research to study protein expression, localization, and dysfunction in cellular stress responses. They enable detection of EIF2B3 in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence, aiding investigations into translational regulation mechanisms and VWM pathology.
