The SH3GL2 antibody targets the SH3 domain-containing GRB2-like protein 2 (SH3GL2), also known as Endophilin-A1. a protein encoded by the *SH3GL2* gene. This protein belongs to the endophilin-A subfamily and plays a critical role in membrane dynamics, particularly in clathrin-mediated endocytosis. SH3GL2 facilitates vesicle formation by interacting with dynamin and other components of the endocytic machinery, contributing to synaptic vesicle recycling in neurons and receptor trafficking in non-neuronal cells. Its SH3 domain mediates protein-protein interactions, enabling recruitment of partners involved in membrane curvature and scission.

SH3GL2 is implicated in neurological disorders and cancer. In neurodegenerative diseases like Huntington’s disease, reduced SH3GL2 levels correlate with synaptic dysfunction. In cancer, SH3GL2 may act as a tumor suppressor, with downregulation observed in gliomas, breast, and prostate cancers. The SH3GL2 antibody is widely used in research to study these mechanisms via techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. It helps assess protein expression, localization, and interactions in disease models. Commercial antibodies vary in specificity, with validation often performed using knockout controls or siRNA knockdown. Researchers prioritize antibodies with high affinity and minimal cross-reactivity to closely related isoforms (e.g., SH3GL1. SH3GL3) to ensure accurate experimental outcomes.
