FUCA1 antibody is a tool used to detect alpha-L-fucosidase 1 (FUCA1), a lysosomal enzyme encoded by the *FUCA1* gene in humans. This enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of fucose-containing glycosphingolipids and glycoproteins, playing a critical role in cellular glycoprotein turnover and lysosomal function. FUCA1 deficiency, caused by mutations in the *FUCA1* gene, leads to fucosidosis, a rare autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disorder characterized by progressive neurodegeneration, developmental delays, and tissue abnormalities.

FUCA1 antibodies are widely employed in research to study enzyme expression, localization, and regulatory mechanisms in both normal and pathological contexts. They are utilized in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) to assess FUCA1 protein levels in tissues or cell lines, aiding in the diagnosis or mechanistic investigation of fucosidosis.
