The FGFR1OP (Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor 1 Oncogenic Partner) antibody is a tool used to study the FGFR1OP protein, which is encoded by the *FGFR1OP* gene. This gene was initially identified as a partner in chromosomal translocations with the *FGFR1* gene in certain hematologic malignancies, particularly 8p11 myeloproliferative syndrome. The resulting fusion protein drives abnormal tyrosine kinase signaling, promoting oncogenesis. FGFR1OP itself is a conserved cytoplasmic protein implicated in cellular processes such as centrosome function, cytoskeletal organization, and cell cycle regulation, though its precise biological roles remain under investigation.

FGFR1OP antibodies are primarily utilized in research to detect and analyze the expression, localization, and interactions of FGFR1OP in normal and diseased tissues. They enable techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) to study FGFR1OP’s involvement in cancers, particularly those linked to FGFR1 rearrangements. Additionally, these antibodies help explore FGFR1OP’s potential role in non-cancer contexts, such as developmental biology or tissue repair. While not yet widely used in clinical diagnostics, FGFR1OP antibodies may hold future utility in identifying FGFR1-related malignancies or guiding targeted therapies.
