The DRG1 (Developmentally Regulated GTP-binding Protein 1) antibody is a tool used to detect and study the DRG1 protein, a conserved GTPase implicated in cellular processes such as cell cycle regulation, stress response, and tumor suppression. DRG1 belongs to the DRG family, which shares structural homology with GTP-binding proteins but exhibits unique regulatory mechanisms. Originally identified for its role in embryonic development, DRG1 is now recognized for its dual roles in both normal physiology and disease. It is downregulated in certain cancers (e.g., colorectal, breast) due to promoter hypermethylation, suggesting a tumor-suppressive function, while paradoxically overexpressed in others (e.g., liver, lung), indicating context-dependent roles.

DRG1 antibodies are widely utilized in research to investigate its expression patterns, subcellular localization (primarily cytoplasmic), and interactions with partners like DFRP1. which regulates its stability. These antibodies enable techniques such as Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence, aiding in mechanistic studies of DRG1's involvement in mTOR signaling, hypoxia response, and chemoresistance. Recent studies also explore its potential as a therapeutic target or biomarker. Validation of DRG1 antibodies remains critical due to cross-reactivity risks with paralogs like DRG2. Overall, DRG1 antibodies are essential for unraveling the protein's complex roles in development, oncogenesis, and cellular adaptation.
