The DEDD2 antibody is a tool used to detect Death Effector Domain-containing protein 2 (DEDD2), a member of the DEDD family implicated in apoptosis and cell cycle regulation. DEDD2 shares structural homology with its paralog DEDD, both containing a conserved N-terminal death effector domain (DED) involved in protein-protein interactions. Unlike DEDD, which localizes to the nucleolus and promotes apoptosis, DEDD2 primarily resides in the cytoplasm and is linked to cell cycle control, particularly at the G1/S checkpoint. Studies suggest it interacts with cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors (e.g., p21) and regulates proteasome-mediated degradation of cell cycle proteins.

This antibody is widely used in techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry to study DEDD2 expression and localization. Its specificity is critical, as cross-reactivity with DEDD must be excluded to ensure accurate interpretation. Research highlights DEDD2's tumor-suppressive potential, with downregulation observed in certain cancers correlating with poor prognosis. Its role in modulating autophagy and apoptosis pathways also makes it relevant in studies of chemotherapy resistance.
