CENPP (Centromere Protein P) is a key component of the centromere, a specialized chromosomal region essential for proper chromosome segregation during cell division. As part of the constitutive centromere-associated network (CCAN), CENPP interacts with other centromeric proteins, such as CENPA, CENPC, and CENPH, to maintain the structural and functional integrity of the centromere. It plays a critical role in kinetochore assembly, ensuring accurate microtubule attachment and faithful chromosome segregation during mitosis and meiosis. Dysregulation of CENPP has been implicated in chromosomal instability, a hallmark of many cancers and genetic disorders.

CENPP antibodies are valuable tools for studying centromere biology, cell cycle regulation, and mechanisms underlying aneuploidy. They are widely used in techniques like immunofluorescence, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), and Western blotting to localize CENPP within the centromere, assess its expression levels, or investigate its interactions with other centromeric components. These antibodies also aid in exploring links between centromere dysfunction and diseases, particularly cancers characterized by aberrant chromosome numbers. Recent studies have highlighted CENPP's potential as a biomarker for certain malignancies, driving interest in its clinical relevance.
