ACTL7B (Actin-like 7B) is a member of the actin protein family, which plays critical roles in cellular structure, motility, and signaling. Unlike conventional actins, ACTL7B is a testis-specific protein predominantly expressed during spermatogenesis, suggesting its involvement in male germ cell development. It is encoded by the ACTL7B gene located on human chromosome 9 (9q31.3) and shares structural homology with other actin-related proteins, though its precise molecular functions remain under investigation. Studies indicate that ACTL7B is essential for acrosome formation, sperm head shaping, and chromosomal compaction during spermiogenesis. Dysregulation or mutations in ACTL7B have been linked to male infertility, particularly teratozoospermia (abnormal sperm morphology).

ACTL7B antibodies are immunological tools developed to detect and study this protein’s expression, localization, and interactions.
