The SNAP25 (Synaptosomal-Associated Protein 25) antibody is a key tool for studying synaptic function and neurodevelopmental disorders. SNAP25. a member of the SNARE protein family, facilitates vesicle docking and fusion by forming a complex with syntaxin and synaptobrevin, enabling neurotransmitter release. It exists in two splice variants, SNAP25a and SNAP25b, with differential expression during brain development. Dysregulation of SNAP25 is linked to neurological and psychiatric conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, schizophrenia, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

SNAP25 antibodies are widely used in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence to detect protein expression, localization, and interactions in neuronal tissues or cultured cells. They help investigate synaptic plasticity, exocytosis mechanisms, and disease-related alterations. Specific antibodies targeting distinct isoforms or post-translationally modified forms (e.g., phosphorylated SNAP25) further elucidate functional diversity.

Research using SNAP25 antibodies has also explored non-neuronal roles, such as hormone secretion in endocrine cells. Their applications extend to diagnostics and drug development, particularly for disorders with synaptic dysfunction. Validation of antibody specificity remains critical, as cross-reactivity with homologous SNARE proteins can occur.
