The MYL2 antibody targets myosin regulatory light chain 2 (MYL2), a protein encoded by the MYL2 gene, which is part of the myosin complex essential for muscle contraction. MYL2. also known as ventricular/cardiac myosin light chain-2. is predominantly expressed in cardiac and skeletal muscle. It regulates the ATPase activity of myosin heavy chains, influencing the force and speed of muscle contraction. MYL2 plays a critical role in cardiac function, particularly in the ventricles, and mutations in this gene are linked to inherited cardiomyopathies, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), characterized by abnormal ventricular thickening.

Antibodies against MYL2 are widely used in research to study its expression, localization, and interaction within muscle tissues. They are vital tools in immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, and immunofluorescence to investigate MYL2's role in normal physiology and disease mechanisms.
