The CSF2RA (Colony Stimulating Factor 2 Receptor Subunit Alpha) antibody targets the alpha subunit of the granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) receptor, a key player in hematopoietic cell regulation. The CSF2RA gene, located in the pseudoautosomal region of X and Y chromosomes, encodes a cytokine receptor critical for binding GM-CSF, initiating downstream signaling pathways like JAK/STAT, and promoting the proliferation, differentiation, and functional activation of macrophages, neutrophils, and dendritic cells.

CSF2RA antibodies are essential tools in studying receptor expression, signaling mechanisms, and dysregulation in diseases. For instance, reduced CSF2RA function is linked to hereditary pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (hPAP), a rare lung disorder caused by impaired GM-CSF signaling and surfactant clearance. Antibodies against CSF2RA enable detection of receptor levels in tissues or cells via techniques like flow cytometry, Western blotting, or immunohistochemistry, aiding in diagnostics and research. They also help investigate autoimmune conditions or cancers where aberrant GM-CSF signaling may contribute to pathogenesis.
