The AICDA antibody targets the Activation-Induced Cytidine Deaminase (AICDA/AID), a key enzyme in adaptive immunity. Expressed primarily in activated B cells, AICDA drives antibody diversification through somatic hypermutation (SHM) and class switch recombination (CSR) by deaminating cytidine to uracil in immunoglobulin genes. This process introduces mutations or DNA breaks, enabling high-affinity antibody production and isotype switching. While essential for immune defense, dysregulated AICDA activity is linked to genomic instability, autoimmune disorders, and B-cell malignancies like lymphoma.

AICDA antibodies are vital research tools for detecting AICDA expression in immune cells, tumor tissues, or experimental models. They help elucidate its role in antibody maturation, cancer biology, and genome editing mechanisms. In diagnostics, these antibodies assist in identifying AICDA overexpression in lymphomas or autoimmune conditions. Therapeutic applications are also being explored, including inhibitors to curb AICDA's mutagenic potential in cancers. However, its transient expression and tight regulation pose challenges for consistent detection, requiring validated antibodies with high specificity.
